The Abu Dhabi Police Clearance is also known as the Good Conduct Certificate.
I have no direct affiliation with the Abu Dhabi Police but this is the process I followed on February 2012 when I needed a Police Clearance for employment:
1. Purchase an E-Dirham card from any NBAD branches. AED 60.00 for Police Clearance application or ask how much the fee is, in case the price changed.
UPDATE: Debit card and credit card are acceptable.

2. Get a Letter of Request provided by the company asking for the police clearance. This is in Arabic.
3. Attach your UAE ID Card. Passport with visa, ID photos and fingerprints are not needed.
4. Go to the Police Station in Salam St. They close at 1:00 PM. Personal appearance is not needed. A proxy can go for you.
UPDATE: Alternative is Al Shabeeya Police Station in Najda – Timing 7:30 AM -12 noon.
5. Your Police Clearance will be delivered to you after one week, or you can pick it up at the post office when you receive the Empost text message.
Your Emirates ID card makes everything easier.

Check the expiration date on the clearance itself kasi baka effective pa.

Hi, thanks for dropping by. I don’t really know the process for special cases. It would be better if you call the police station to ask, maybe they have another process if the request is from another country.

Hi Larry, it’s the sad but true fact of life. That’s what most companies do when employees are leaving. You just have to wisely choose your steps and keep on pressing. Hope by this time you’re all fine, moved out and settled in.

Passport or emirated id are not enough?
I got the letter from the company requesting for the police license.
The Arabic letter should be provided by the hiring company who needs the police clearance.

Arabic language certificate cost 80 DHs(50 certificate fee + 30 DHs fee of fast mail)
100 DHs Extra fee for accreditation and translation to English.

Yes, I believe there will be a difference. You have to call the station to know. You can go to the bank and buy a E-Dirham card

I followed & took the advice of Ajwanth. Yes, the Al Shabeeya Police Station in Najda is quick and will only take a few minutes as long as you have all the required documents. For my application, they just wanted a scanned copy of the passport with stamped UAE visa, copy of my Emirates ID, and the letter given by my employer in Arabic translation. For the payment, they will not accept cash but only a Visa credit card (I had a Mastercard credit card, but they said they prefer Visa). If you do not have a credit card, then before going to the Police Station, you must already have with you the E-Dirham card.

i got a job in adnh and they provide me offer letter and also they required cid clearance certificate and they have applied for my clearance certificate and they told me you have to wait until we dont receive cid clearance certificate.my question is this anybody have experience in this field?and now its gona 10 days but no answer from company.i would like to know what is this cid clearance certificate and what they search and look for verification and how many time and days they take for this i am still worried cuz i dont have a job and my visa is going to expire and still no answer from company about cid clearance if anybody know about this please kindly suggest to me.
I’m not sure if CID is the same with Police Clearance. But if the company applies for this, you have nothing else to do but wait
And that’s the sad think because they rarely update you or tell you a time frame. You can call again and tell the HR about your dilemma of expiring visa. I Hope all goes well.

Hi there, my new employer in Seychelles requested to have the police clearance certificate. Now, my question is that I have no letter from the company as none of the party is aware of this. The letter of request as you mentioned earlier has to be written in Arabic only ? What kind of information should be included in there.

Hi, as much as I’d like to help, my knowledge ends only in companies hiring within the UAE because the letter of request is basic in applying for a police clearance. I think the best you can do is call the police station and inquire about this and what is supposed to be written in the letter.
i’m in the philippines now since aug. 2010. The canadian embassy is requiring me a police certificate during my stay in uae. How can i secure police certificate if i am in the philippines?
If you have relatives or friends here, it would be better if they do the application for you. I’m not sure about the process but inquiring from the station might answer your query.
i needed a police clearance for the canadian embassy. i went to shabeya police station but, apparently, their machines aren’t working. so they told me to go to madina police station. they only needed copies of my passport, visa, and emirates id. i paid 53aed for the certificate thru e-dirham; 100aed cash for english translation; 15aed cash for empost courier. hopefully delivery wouldn’t take long.

im very much disappointed the way these process go through. I thought this is how easy as it is. First they give me a date for the release of my police clearance in shabeya police station, on the released date they ask me to wait for a couple of minutes just to find out their system is not working after that they give me an referral in mena police station. Without informing anybody that the mena police station has been transferred already to the opposite side of Abu dhabi cooperatve supermarket. Although i was already late for a couple of minute for the releasing of certificate still they give me a chance and i showed up the receipt i had from the payment of this certificate. Guess what happened??… The certificate is still not process this will be finish “after next next week”.. it means this take two weeks processing…what a mess?

Hi, my husband work in Abu Dhabi last 2007-2009 then when recession come, he lost his job. After a month he find a job in Dubai and they gave working visa, but unfortunate he only work for 5 months, he go to Philippines for vacation and he will not come back again in dubai. My question is can we get police clearance even he will not finish hes contract in his employer?.. where we going to apply for his police clearance in Abu dhabi or Dubai?.. thank for your response!
The first question will be ”what is the police clearance for?”
Generally, the company/person requesting for the clearance should state where the clearance should come from. most of the time it’s the current residency or the last job residency.
Like when my company required it, they specifically stated ”police clearance if resident of abu dhabi. Those who didn’t reside in abu dhabi didn’t need to show a police clearance.
The best answer is to ask the requesting party where the clearance should come from..

As far as I know, they only issue a Police Clearance for current residents in AUH. Or you may have to need a proxy. Update me if you find out..

Hi ..Thanks for the information..Only it has been simplified further.Applied for mine today. Work timings-7.30-12pm. Location:Al Shabeeya police Station,Najda St. Document to carry-Emirates Id, or original passport. Method-pay 56Dhms using E-Dirham card or debit card or credit card.Collect payment receipt and come back in 3 days to collect the Certificate. No crowd, no hassle. Its the first time I had a wonderful experience and a smiling person service in a Police station.

Police clearance is only applicable for people residing in the UAE.
If you are holding a resident visa in the UAE and you are in the Philippines only for vacation, yes, your representative can go apply for the permit in the Police department provided that she/he has your ID card. They the police dept will courier it to you within the region.
