Day 8: The Discipline of Friday Worship

But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead.

PURSUING INTIMACY WITH GOD THROUGH DISCIPLINE

I have no other resolution this year but to know God more deeply.

I am thankful that the UAE government provides and generally respects the right for freedom of religion. Ever since I came to Abu Dhabi, I had hopped from one church to another and have not established an accountability group.

It was early last year when God finally led me to Christ Commission Fellowship (CCF) Abu Dhabi.

At first, I was attending church at my convenience and justifying my inconsistency with so many excuses: work, time, distance and all sorts of busyness.

If this is the way you live your life, God will shake you and you’ll wake up one day realizing you have wasted precious days, months and years.

Today, I look forward to my Fridays – waking up to a quiet morning of prayer, riding to church with my sibs and friends, worshiping freely, eating dinner with mentors and closing the night with deep talks over coffee and tea.

The blessings of God is not as important as the presence of God.

My prayer is that I reach an intimacy with God wherein He can say to me these same words: And the Lord said to Moses, “I will do the very thing you have asked, because I am pleased with you and I know you by name.”

I long for this kind of closeness, when I too can respond like Moses, courageously pushing further…
Then Moses said, “Now show me your glory.”
