A eulogy from Wendell’s platoon leader –

2nd Lieutenant Mark Anthony Bernardino

Wendell is a joyful and hardworking person, dedicated to the job and most of all a very good Christian. Prior to our operation, I prayed for my troop. As their leader I always reminded them that encounters aren’t sought after but they come to us.

Before the encounter, Wendell was our spokesperson since I didn’t understand the Ifugao language. I am proud of him because he sacrificed his life for our country. Until his last breathe he was fighting. We did everything we could to quench the enemies and Wendell was one of the instruments in paralyzing them.

Wendell is a hero. His memory will remain in our hearts and minds. Thank you, Wendell. We know you are with our Lord Almighty. You are an inspiration to every soldier of this nation.
