Can we Beautify People?

I was on my way to work today when a car pulled up right beside me. The driver rolled his window down and asked me if there were any vacant rooms in the villa I was living in. I shook my head and said I didn’t know.

He slowly drove alongside me and asked another question which I didn’t understand. I tried to ignore him and walked faster. He then asked if I needed a ride. I stopped, looked him into the eye and said,

”NO.”

I could have dismissed this as an isolated case but I couldn’t. This happened to me four times since I started taking public transportation to work again. Cars would pull over and ask incoherent questions just to stall me.

Even as I quietly wait in the corner of our street for a taxi, the cars passing by would slow down and honk several times just to get my attention.

Clarification: On these times, I am decently clothed since I would be on my way to work.

It irks me ‘coz Abu Dhabi is a beautiful place. I hope the government would spend as much money in beautifying and designing the people the way they do their parks and infrastructures.

What Do You Think?
