THE SEASON OF WONDERING

Why doesn’t God seem fair? What do you do when what you see does not line up with what you believe? What do you do when God doesnโ€™t feel good at the moment, because you know he can do something and yet he doesn’t?

A committed believer can both WRESTLE with honest questions and EMBRACE a genuine faith in God, both at the same time.
โ€œGod, why do you tolerate the treacherous?
โ€œGod, why are you silent when the wicked swallows the righteousโ€
โ€œGod, why are the evil doers becoming more prosperous?

What if embracing your secret questions opens the door for a maturing knowledge of Godโ€™s character? What if drawing closer to God and developing genuine intimacy with him requires you to bear something that feels unbearable? To hear him through an ominous utterance, to trust him in the moment of doom, to embrace his strength when youโ€™re weak with a burden?

If you are there right now, God understands your pain. He welcomes your questions. He would rather have you yell at him in frustration than walk away from him.

When you hit a wall or a crisis of belief, donโ€™t deny your doubts. Donโ€™t run away from God. Let your doubts drive you to continue to embrace, even when you wrestle with Him.

In paragliding, for you to be able to properly kite, you need to wrestle with your whimsical wing and embrace the speed of the wind. When you reach the right balance of control, your wing stays afloat and all you have to do next is turn around and run towards the sky.

You can still try to embrace Godโ€™s promises, even when you wrestle with so many things you donโ€™t understand, because He is always at work behind the scenes.
