In the male-dominated world of paragliding, I’ve had my fair share of bullying, manipulation, abusive behaviors and aggressive threats from pilots I called my “kuya”. I’ve heard demeaning things like, “you’re a girl, these stuff is for men,” and “it’s better you stay in the office and let the men fly.”

BUT. I’ve had MORE pilot kuyas who kept cheering for me and genuinely helped me get back up, each time one hammers me down.

AND. I’ve had the opportunity to work with many brilliant women leaders in my circle, the tourism industry and in our local government.

I think, more than being a woman, my strength to resurface each time people drag me to drown in deep waters, comes from a GOD who created all beings to be equal in dignity. Only my creator can take the wings out of the winds. Until then, I will keep flying higher.

To all my fellow women, the skies we fly in may be harder than others, but let’s keep changing society one breath at a time!
