Bus 11

It takes me 32 minutes of bus ride to reach my work. When you do this every day for 6 days, it becomes dull and dreary. I soon discovered that these 32 minutes were perfectly calculated by God, allowing me to do something I missed for a very long time – a consistent prayer time.

_________

Good Morning, Bus 11,

Today we meet again.

The sun is up, it’s blazing hot

But God and I need to talk a lot

Lord, grant me toughness and super powers

To finish everything in my given hours

I pray for Boss One to stop the rants

And for Boss Two to lessen demands

I pray for my family, especially mom

Keep her away from ice cream to come

Give my sister, Joy, a mind that won’t roam

To finish college fast then I can come home

Bless my best friend, Faith

and her coming wedding date

I pray for all my friends, old and new

For everyone who asked for prayers too

Just as Bus 11 curves for my stop

I say my final amen to wrap things up

Lord, today is yours, bestow your special touch

And oh, please don’t make me eat too much

Hours later when darkness falls

After tiring work and countless calls

Hello again, Bus 11, please take me home

Rest awaits in my tiny dome

As the bus moves, I start to pray

Loneliness please go away

I pray tomorrow for a better day

if not a happy life then a better pay

But thank you, Lord, for all the food

I didn’t starve, it is all good

This is my stop, I’m off my seat

Bye Bus 11, bukas ulit!
