Eid Holiday in Umm al-Quwain

Eid Ul-Fitr is the Muslim festivity that marks the end of Ramadan. It is also an anticipated holiday for the Filipinos working in the UAE. It is when you get a day or two off from work (3-4 days for the lucky ones like Ivory).

Being the famous tag-along, I spent Eid with friends of friends of friends from Sharjah. I actually had no plans of going somewhere. In fact, I was even appointed to man the showroom during the holidays. Good thing Kuya Jerome agreed to trade places with me so I was able to go along this spontaneous trip.

Jen, Aya and I patiently waiting for the rented van to take us to Fujairah. They said we were to leave at 7:00 PM.

12:00 AM and we were still waiting, waiting, waiting.

2:00 AM and we finally took off.

After 3 hours of going round and round the roundabout, we found ourselves in this beach in Umm al-Quwain – an emirate short of our destination.

But it was okay ‘coz we got our perfect wading at dawn when the sun ain’t blistering hot.

Aya and Jen’s new flatmates. Such nice family.

One of our many pseudo jump-shots.

To compensate for our failed under-the-water shots, we took over-the-land shots.

Short freedom before the beach would be swamped with freaky-psycho men.

The one who gets scared of waves.

Not getting enough of the water, we invaded the pool at the flat. That is after 8 long hours of sleep.

2 hours from now, I’ll be riding the bus back to Abu Dhabi.

Back to work, babe – back to mundane living.

Sigh.
