Treat from Colombiano

Speaking of Colombiano…

What’s the best way to end a gloomy gloomy day?

By getting a surprise treat from your recently declared favorite cafe.

Mr. A comes in carrying 2 Frappuccinos. I appreciate it when they bring treats for two even if they know I’m all alone in the showroom during night shifts.

We both go to the cashier area to settle his order for milk jugs.

Mr. A: How are you? How is your day?

Me: It’s been a really bad day.

Mr. A looks at me a bit surprised. Not the usual ”It’s OK” answer from people.

Me: But it’s OK now coz you brought me coffee.

(Aba, lumalandi ang lola)

I calculate his total purchase.

Me: 36 Dirhams, sir.

Mr. A: Wow. That’s cheap.

He hands me 50 Dirhams.

Me: Do you have 1 Dirham, sir?

Mr. A: No.

I give him 15 Dirhams as change. He hands me back 5 Dirhams.

Me: Sir, it’s ok. It’s just 1 Dirham.

Mr. A: I wouldn’t want you to pay for that.

I sign his invoice and give it to him. He suddenly takes back the 5 Dirham bill.

Mr. A: I’ll just give you back 1 Dirham.

I smile at him. He was a regular client so it didn’t really matter.

Mr. A: Thank you so much.

Me: Thank you too for coming, sir.

What’s the best way to enjoy your treat on a gloomy gloomy day?

With an un-gloomy friend!

Just in time for the treat for 2, kuya Aris arrives from our Dubai branch to deliver some items. He, being the thoughtful guy he is, brought shawarma for me. Amazingly, shawarma and frap go good together.

To my jog-mate, bus-mate, shawarma-mate, avocadoshake-mate, thank you for being my shrink slash brother for the past 6 months. I would have returned back to the Philippines if not for you and your positivity. *tears*

While we were munching and sipping away, Mr. A comes back.

Me: Hi again, sir. Did you forget anything?

Mr. A: Here’s the 1 Dirham and this one’s for you.

He hands me a box of chocolate.

The gloomy gloomy day turned into a calorie calorie day!

Thank you, Mr. A 🙂
