Mothers and Judgments

My mom is the coolest.

No, she does not wear hip clothes and does not ”rock” a party.

Her coolness is in the freedom of her children to be themselves when talking to or being with her – no pretensions whatsoever. We could joke around her or pull her leg anytime knowing that she’d always have an amusing comeback.

But the real coolness I’m liking now is the way she respects her children’s decisions since papa died.

Today I was talking to her through Skype and she was showing off my Certificate of Achievement received from Japan.

After the joyful twaddle, I had to drop the bomb. I told her something that I know every mother would frown upon. And this is what she says…

”I trust your judgement, anak.”

This was said not with resignation, but with complete trust and confidence. Indeed, if you train up a child in the way she should go, when she is old she will not depart from it. You just have to trust that the decisions she makes now are rooted at the wisdom of your nurture.

To mama, I say this again: do not worry, you raised me well.

  2. Mothers know best talaga. At si Lola, talagang hippieee! She knows you well, kaya, no doubt, she trusts you with everything. ^_^ Ano yung “bomb”? Ano yung certificate of achievement from Japan???? ^_^ Are you going to Japan????

    1. the bomb has nothing to do with japan 🙂 It has something to do with what I’m doing with my life right now. hahaha. Anyway, let’s leave the bomb as is, before it explodes 🙂
