Ski Dubai Christmas 2010

SKI DUBAI

Ski Dubai is the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East and offers an amazing snow setting to enjoy skiing, snowboarding and tobogganing, or just playing in the snow. It is a unique mountain-themed attraction that offers you the opportunity to enjoy real snow in Dubai all year round.

Beyond this cheery smile is a running nose and a freezing neck.

Standing in line like a little kid.

Little snowy slide, here I come!

Dead.

A taste of the real thing someday.

Lamp-heater post by the cozy cafe at the top of the ”mountain”.

Thawing.

A hot cup of chocolate plus wintry cold equals perfect isolation.

I found a grizzly bear in the Himalayas.

I have planned to write a Christmas blog just as writers would do but a favorite writer and a friend of ’25 years’ have captured the thoughts I wanted to say. Allow me to share the sentiments of my heart through Milamin Apuya’s words.

I made a decision to celebrate Christmas this year regardless of my circumstance.

If Christmas is about traditions–the Noche Buena… the aguinaldo, the parol, (the gift-giving, the family devotions) – then I shouldn’t celebrate Christmas because none of the traditions I grew up loving exist in my new home.

If Christmas is about giving, then I shouldn’t celebrate Christmas because I have nothing much to give or offer…

If Christmas is about love, then why am I still single?

If Christmas is about the family, then I should be crying right now because I have no family with me here to celebrate.

But this Christmas, I have decided to celebrate regardless of my circumstance because no matter how much I whine the truth still remains – Jesus Himself is worth the celebration.

This Christmas is my first away from home, away from the warmth of my big family. But I still have joy because I know I am not the reason for the season.

Yet even if it is not about me, I stand in awe for the CHRIST of Christmas has again proved his love by not letting a prayer of His daughter go unanswered –  HAPPINESS on Christmas day.

To you who made every effort to make that day special, you continually amaze me with your big heart.

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas!
