FreshLook Contact Lenses in the UAE

I wear contact lenses.

I have an eye grade of 675, meaning I am semi-blind. Without my lenses all I can see are outlines of people and blurs of prominent colors.

I choose to wear colored ones because I have lost over a dozen pairs of clear contacts. Being a person who’s always on the go, I do not have the luxury of always having a clean and decent spot to do my eye rituals. Colored contacts are easier to find when they fall which happens to me all the time.

For two months now, I am an owner of 3 pairs of contacts – a very unhappy owner, that is.

My Amethyst pair got scratch then eventually damaged when an irritated me got it squished between the container and its cover.

My Green pair makes me cry all day. Worst, it makes me look like a vegetarian vampire.

My Turquoise pair forces me to do ”beautiful eyes” all the time. It makes me blink a lot that people think I like them. It dries up so quickly that I have to re-wet every 3-4 hours. It’s giving me a constant headache.

I have been using Freshlook for almost 6 years. I haven’t been this aggravated ’till now.

Can it be because the contacts are made for the Middle East eyes? They are a lot  bigger than the ones I buy in the Philippines. They are so huge that it takes me a minute to put them on when it used to just take me seconds.

Is the Arabic eyeball really different from the Asians?

If you plan to buy contacts here in the Mid-East, test their samples first before you bring out your wallet. Or else you’ll end up like me, a blinking vegetarian vampire with a troublesome headache.

    1. Hi Jelo 🙂 Unfortunately, I don’t have info on lenses in the UAE anymore because a few months after this post I decided to do lasik surgery na. Best decision in my life!

I guess mahirap talaga makahanap ng good brands ng lenses sa UAE kasi bigger and thicker ung lenses jan. I don’t know why. So the best way still is to order from the Philippines and have someone carry it for you. That’s what my brother and sister do. Both based in Abu Dhabi. Hope this helps!

  3. buddha, there’s also air optix day and night that i use for a month, after that, i throw it away and use another pair. less hassle to clean, the good thing about it is that its cheap and it doesnt feel like you’re wearing one. ok din ang acuvue kaso mahal…

  4. Youch. Hope you find better lenses soon. Are they easily available OTC even if your prescription is high?
I never could get over my fear of putting something on my eyeball. And I doubt if my high astigmatism would allow me to wear contacts anyway.

    1. Yep, ate 🙂 but in most opticals you havta wait for a day or two for them to order your grade. Ate, actually mas nirerecommend ang contacts if you got high astigmatism… i heard before. Try the dailies muna 🙂 like a few hours in a week so you can get used to it. better parin ang contacts than glasses e. coz you can drink coffee and soup without fogging. haha.
