Jacob said, “First, swear to me.” And he did it. On oath Esau traded away his rights as the firstborn. Jacob gave him bread and the stew of lentils. He ate and drank, got up and left. That’s how Esau shrugged off his rights as the firstborn.
Genesis 25:33-34 (The Message)
Esau gave away his Birthright for a bowl of soup and few pieces of bread.
Not a smart move.
A bowl of soup lasts a few minutes, the birthright was forever.
When we settle, we get something that’s not truly satisfying.
Apart from God, everything is just a bowl of soup.
I daresay, settle not!
