I am seldom appreciated at work. It’s not that I crave recognition but it feels nice to be appreciated once in a while. My love language is words of affirmation and I haven’t received a lot of that at work.
So when I get emails like this, even my anti-social self can’t resist the invitation.

I enjoy being part of our company’s sports & social team, especially our football events. It’s a world I completely feel comfortable in – no high heels, no make-up, no stingy people.
Last December, I was given the privilege to host Etihad’s 2nd World Aviation Football Cup. I worked the microphone tirelessly from morning ’till evening for 2 days in a row. I love football so much, I didn’t mind losing my voice afterwards.

Our “thank you” dinner was held at the pool area of the Abu Dhabi City Golf Club.

Fancy eh.

I arrived early so I get to pick the most anti-social table. Yey!

Shared my table with friends from the Etihad Men’s Football Team. Most of them couldn’t make it 😦

I couldn’t get a proper photo of the full buffet, but here’s the dessert section…

It was a short night of acknowledgements and tributes. Thank you Etihad Sports & Social for re-affirming our worth as players and volunteers.

“Everyone wants to be appreciated, so if you appreciate someone, don’t keep it a secret.”
You know until now I still don’t know my love language. And I like that quote. I need to express my appreciation more.
