Paris vs Lasik

One’s destination is never a place, but a new way of seeing things.” ― Henry Miller

One thing I don’t like about growing up is making hard decisions.

These past weeks I’ve been bothered with a choice I need to make as soon as possible: A trip to Paris or a trip to the Philippines for Lasik Surgery

Since October 16, my free annual leave ticket (anywhere to an Etihad Destination) has been opened and ready for booking. It’s been 6 days and I still couldn’t make up my mind.

I could use this company-paid ticket to fly to the Philippines and get Lasik treatment for a cheaper price (compared to the UAE). All I want is to have a clearer vision without the hassle of my never-ending purchases of glasses, contact lenses and solutions. Although a lot of reliable friends and mentors have recommended this procedure, there still remains the fear of  ”what if something goes wrong.” It’s still my eyes were talking about.

On the other hand, Paris is definitely worth my free tickets. It’s a childhood dream that’s just one click away. They say travel is an investment that creates memories of a lifetime. What if I die in the next few months, I might have saved my eyes for nothing. Haha.

To flee or to see?

  1. I know the frustration and hassles of wearing specs and contact lenses haha! So I’d go for the lifetime “seeing 20/20” and be able to swim and see under the ocean. My sister got her Lasik through Justin de Ramos’ aunt and and her vision’s doing really well.

  3. When do you have to take the trip? If you have to do it soon, you might consider if autumn/winter is the best time to visit Paris. If it’s whenever you want, do what you like.
My sis got lasik and she got dry eyes as a result but I don’t think she regrets it.
