ETIHAD’s BUSINESS STUDIO

While the UAE looked forward to its long Eid holiday, I was packing up for my longest trip this year. My greatest challenge was to fit a week’s worth of winter clothes inside one backpack.

Challenge accomplished!

The moment I saw my seat, I knew it was going to be a special flight. It completely slipped my mind that our new Boeing 787 Dreamliner flew to Switzerland.

I’ve been working on content about our Business Studio since the launch last year and I was thrilled to finally try it out.

The Business Studio features contemporary design details, inspired by the aesthetics of modern Arabia. Different lighting options add to the relaxing ambience, including an elegant side lamp, a reading light, and mood lighting.

Generous storage is also available, including room underneath the ottoman for carry-on items and shoes, as well as a large top-loading cupboard for water bottles, head-sets, literature and other items.

Each Studio also features an ample side-furniture surface convenient for resting laptops, tablets and books.

The system has video touchscreen handsets, offering an additional screen for guests to maximise their entertainment, so they can play games or view the moving map while watching a movie.  Noise cancelling headsets are provided across all cabins, with built-in magnetic audio jacks to ensure the best sound quality. 

The plane is equipped with Wi-Fly, connecting you to the world below. With just a touch of a button, the window shade adjusts to your preference. No more pulling up or down.

The chair, upholstered in leather by Poltrona Frau (the prestigious Italian suppliers of Ferrari’s interiors), extends to a fully flat bed of up to 80.5 inches long.

The studios are arranged in a 1-2-1 configuration, giving direct aisle access to all guests – easy access to the lavatory.

This flight is special to me because not only did I spend days and nights working during the launch of Etihad’s Flying Reimagined but I was there during the introductory gala of the Dreamliner in Abu Dhabi back in 2012. I was still a new joiner who knew nothing about airplanes.

3 years later, from concept, to technical manuals, to touchdowns, to Marketing meetings, to website content, to finally sitting on that chair and enjoying the service.
