Since I opened a new bank account in New Zealand, I wanted to close my old account in the UAE.
I sent my ABu Dhabi bank an online request for this.
After reading their reply, I asked my sister, who is in the UAE, to go to one of their branches and raise the issue that I am not physically in the country anymore.
The bank staff advised her that if I wanted to authorise my sister to process this, I should submit a Power of Attorney with an approval from the Philippine Embassy.
What drama is this?!
I sent my bank another message and this is what I wrote…
Not long after, I got this reply…
Logic and diplomacy won the day. Another part of my UAE life is finally closed! Thank you National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) for all the years of faithful service.
You made all my travels effortless and my financial obligations so easy to manage. Apart from a few frustrating instances, you did serve me well.
Now it’s really MAFI FULUS, my friend!
At least they replied to you.
I have sent them a hundred reminders about something and haven’t got a single response yet!
