Two hours away from Kota Kinabalu airport is Keningau district. It is the fifth-largest town and one of the oldest in Sabah, Malaysia.
Azizan introduced us to Jaidi and his wonderful family who owned the take-off hill we were to camp in.
The road going up reminded me of my mountains back home in the northern Philippines.
The view from up the mountain was breathtaking!
This was our home for the next 3 days. We had water from the rain and light from the fireflies. Our lullaby at night was the blowing wind and the sounds of mating insects. Our wake-up call were chirping birds and the warm sunshine.
Azizan and Jaidi took care of us so well. They anticipated our camping needs and gave more than what we asked for.
We had a pick-up service every time we flew down the mountain. Jaidi was our all-in-one driver, guide and paraboy. He rescued me and my wing from a tree (more about that in my next post).
His kids provided good entertainment.
The best part of this camp site is waking up to good winds and taking off right where we were.
It was wonderful connecting with nature and being surrounded by caring people.
Thank you so much for hosting us! We have all the reasons to come back and bring more pilots with us.
